FitBark devices are research-grade dog activity and sleep monitors. They collect physical activity and rest levels 24/7, providing you and your family with unprecedented insights into dog health and behavior. Made in the shape of a tiny, stylish dog-bone, FitBark devices fit dogs of any size. If you and your family are serious about keeping your pet healthy, monitoring changes in behavior and sharing useful information with your veterinarian, look no fur-ther. Here are some of the metrics that FitBark devices track: Activity counts (BarkPoints) Rest, active and play time Nocturnal sleep score Overall health index Activity index Calorie burn Distance traveled In particular, FitBark devices are useful to monitor changes in mobility, anxiety and skin conditions.

What’s my FitBark device’s wireless range? How far can I be from my dog to sync?
Your FitBark device's sync range is about 30 feet (9 meters) from an iOS or Android mobile device, or a FitBark Wi-Fi Base Station. This range may be affected by several external factors. Your FitBark device stores your dog's activity and sleep information 24/7. A daily sync is recommended but not required.

What collars are compatible with FitBark 2?
Width: FitBark 2 is compatible with collars not wider than 1.5" (38 mm). Thickness: Collars with buckles and safety collars and are typically OK, unless they are so thick that a zip tie wouldn't have a snug fit. You'll get the most out of the experience if you leave a soft collar on your dog 24/7.

Are FitBark devices suitable for small size dogs?
Yes. FitBark devices are so tiny that they won't bother dogs of any size, including a 3-lb Chihuahua and a 200-lb Leonberger.

Do FitBark devices have GPS?
No, or at least not yet. At FitBark, rather than answer the question "where is my dog?" we focus on health, activity, sleep and behavior. Our goal is to better understand our dogs. Our mission is to inspire a healthy lifestyle for dogs and humans. That’s why we designed an experience that is dynamic and has use throughout the day. And here’s what unique about us: through his or her FitBark, your dog anonymously contributes health and lifestyle data that helps all dogs and their owners live healthier lives. You can learn more about FitBark Explore here. If you’d like to be a part of something bigger, we’d love to hear from you. Note: while we continue to look at ways to introduce new sensors in the future, for now we’re extremely proud of FitBark’s tiny product size, form factor and battery life. Introducing a GPS sensor at this time would likely make our product 5-7 times as bulky.

What is the temperature operating range of FitBark devices?
Based on our previous experience with similar components and materials, our current assessment is the following: Operating temperature: -4°F to 122°F (-20°C to 50°C) Storage temperature: -22°F to 140°F (-30°C to 60°C)

Is it bad for my dog to have an electronic device so close to him?
FitBark devices emit less than 1/10,000th the amount of radiation from a cell phone, and a small fraction of what we humans get from using a Bluetooth headset. Our devices are FCC, IC and CE certified and well within the specifications followed by any other product considered to be safe.

Do FitBark devices have a heart rate monitor?
No, or at least not yet. While we continue to look at ways to introduce new sensors in the future, for now we’re extremely proud of FitBark’s tiny product size, form factor and battery life.

What do the FitBark 2 LEDs mean?
Under normal operating conditions, the FitBark’s LED is off. Here’s a description of what the various modes mean: FitBark powered with LED flashing (rapidly at 0.5 secs interval): the FitBark is in pairing mode and ready to be associated with any dog’s profile (if the FitBark isn’t already associated with an existing dog) FitBark powered with LED solid: battery fully charged FitBark powered with LED blinking slowly (10 seconds interval): battery is charging FitBark not powered with LED constantly blinking: error mode –> please contact us from the Support Chat in our mobile or web apps FitBark not powered with LED solid: error mode –> please contact us from the Support Chat in our mobile or web apps FitBark powered with LED completely OFF: please unplug and contact us from the Support Chat in our mobile or web apps

Do FitBark devices control barking?
Not really. FitBark devices are activity and sleep monitors. On a side note, plenty of exercise helps eliminate hyperactive, destructive, unruly and attention seeking behaviors that may or may not include excessive barking. In addition, if your dog tends to be anxious when left alone, FitBark helps you monitor how his activity and anxiety levels change during the hours after the separation. You can learn more here.

Is FitBark 2 waterproof?
Yes. FitBark 2’s waterproof specification is IPX67 (can be submerged up to 1 meter for up to 30 minutes). After a day of fun playing in the water, remove the cover to make sure any water on the charging pins fully dries before putting it back on the FitBark 2.

Can I use FitBark devices on a harness?
FitBark devices are designed to be fixed on a dog collar. Wearing your FitBark device on a harness may reduce its activity and sleep tracking accuracy. If you use a harness to take your dog out for walks, we recommend that you keep your FitBark device on a light, soft collar that your dog can wear 24/7 and wear the harness on top of that.

Can I use one FitBark device on multiple dogs?
As a regular dog owner, we don't recommend this as you won’t get much value out of the platform if you don’t monitor your dog’s health, sleep and behavior 24/7. As a pet healthcare professional, we make it possible to cycle one FitBark device on multiple dogs if you're running a clinical study or are temporarily lending a unit to a client. Please make sure to create new dog profiles for each dog and "Assign New FitBark" when you want to associate a FitBark unit to an existing dog profile.

Can a cat wear a FitBark device? What about other animals?
Yes, but you won’t find much in terms of comparative norms and baselines. Please choose an animal within the "not a dog" list when you setup your FitBark device on a cat, bunny, pig, sheep, chicken, penguin, falcon, zebra or any other animal or human.

I wanted to mention that Kimba’s FitBark proved invaluable (and possibly life-saving) last week. We noticed that her stats were lower than usual last week. She didn’t have her usual energy levels so we kept an eye on her and then discovered a swelling behind her left ear which turned out to be a very bad reaction to a spider bite. She is now in treatment with our vet and responding well, but she has been very ill, and thanks to the FitBark we picked up earlier than we might otherwise that things were not right with her.

I am a health and dog nut and could not be more pleased with FitBark. I have two small Westies and the monitors fit their collars perfectly; it is very light and fashionable.
The information I get from the app is very valuable, I am able to see the exact times they are active, when they get walks from our dogs walkers, and most importantly how they do compared to each other and other dogs from the same breed.
The staff at Dog Sense is extremely friendly and responsive; They really care about the users and make sure that we have all the info we need.

I have a Shih Tzu and was worried the Fitbark would be bulky around his neck. I didn’t need to worry as its really small and quite discreet. It doesn’t bother him at all.
The app was easy to install however takes some playing about with to get best out of product. However the basics of the product are really easy to navigate.
The product does what it says on the tin and we find it interesting especially looking at our dog’s sleeping habits. If you’re curious as to whether your dog is getting enough exercise or what it’s up to when you’re not around then this is a great tool.

I love knowing if my dog needs more playtime. With a dachshund you need to make sure that they stay fit to combat spine injuries. With the FitBark I have peace of mind knowing that I am doing all I can to fight that.
